In late 2011, a projection mapping project was conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to promote Hyundai’s Accent. Actual cars were placed on the walls of buildings, and the roads on the walls were mapped to create an illusion that the cars were driving along the building walls. This 3D projection mapping, which created a visual illusion of cars driving on the walls, was a pioneering project in projection mapping and garnered awards from various sources. It served as a landmark project in introducing projection mapping as a marketing tool to the public.
